For marketers and video creators

Natural typing for demos, tutorials and screen recordings

Paste your script into TypeHands, pick a speed, press Start and record. The text appears on screen one real keystroke at a time, with natural pauses, so viewers can follow it and you don't need a second take.

Workflow

From script to recording in four steps.

  1. 01

    Paste the script

Open TypeHands from the Chrome toolbar and paste the text that should appear on screen. It stays saved, so every retake starts from the same script.

  2. 02

    Pick speed and typos

30–45 WPM for lessons people type along with, 45–65 for product demos, 65–90 for short social clips. Keep typos Off or Low for a clean take.

  3. 03

    Start recording, then Start typing

Start your screen recorder, press Start typing and click into the field during the 2–10 second countdown.

  4. 04

    Record in one take

Text types itself while you narrate or move the mouse. Pause, resume or press Esc to stop; nothing lands outside the field.

Times are for typing alone; natural pauses after sentences and line breaks add a little more.

Where it works

Records anywhere you can type in Chrome.

Docs and notes

Google Docs (Native keys mode), Notion and other web editors.

Email and outreach

Gmail and other web mail: subject lines and multi-paragraph bodies.

Chats and help desks

Web chats and support tools, with Shift+Enter for line breaks.

Your own product

Sign-up forms, search boxes, CRMs and CMS editors in a web app.

About the “started debugging this browser” bar

In Native keys mode Chrome shows this bar at the top of the window while typing. To keep it out of the video, record only the browser tab if your recorder supports it, or crop the top of the frame. Outside Google Docs you can switch to Compatible mode, which doesn't show the bar.

Why not an editor animation

Real typing in the real app beats a text effect.

Typing effect in a video editor
  • Looks like an effect laid over the video
  • Has to be rebuilt after every copy edit
  • The app on screen doesn't react
TypeHands in Chrome
  • The real app types on camera
  • Edit the script, press Start, record again
  • Autocomplete, counters and validation react as they do for users

For marketing teams

Launch videos, onboarding tours, social clips and client pitches keep the same pace across a whole series. Record in English and Russian with typos that land on real neighbouring keys on both layouts.

FAQ

Questions about recording.

Use TypeHands for content you're allowed to publish, in your own accounts. It's not for exams, graded work or anything where authorship must be genuine.

Will the debugging bar show up in my recording?

Only if you record the whole window in Native keys mode. Record the tab only, crop the top of the frame, or use Compatible mode outside Google Docs.

Does it work with Loom, OBS or QuickTime?

Yes. TypeHands types inside Chrome, so any screen recorder captures it like your own typing.

Can I pause in the middle of a take?

Yes. Press Pause on the small on-page panel and Resume when ready. If you click outside the field, typing pauses by itself.

How do I redo a take?

Press Start typing again. The script stays saved in TypeHands, and the speed and typo settings are remembered.

Record it once. Let it type.
